Leveraging 15,000 per second throughput of Gelato Relay
Connext recently unveiled a cross-chain airdrop for their NEXT token. This allows users to claim tokens without incurring gas fees, thanks to the Gelato Relay, and they can do so on their chain of choice.
Gelato Relay has boosted its transaction throughput to accommodate 1,000 relay requests per minute on each chain. This ensures rapid token claims, even at times of highest demand.
Connext recently announced an airdrop for their NEXT token, marking it as a first-of-its-kind cross-chain airdrop. This initiative allows users to claim NEXT on their preferred chain without interacting with a bridge. Whereas many airdrops typically involve gas fees for claiming tokens, Connext’s collaboration with Gelato Relay allows users to claim tokens without paying any gas fees. This is enabled by Gelato Relay's ability to relay users' transactions on-chain, ensuring secure gasless transactions for an ultra-smooth UX.
Gelato Relay: Powering the Connext Airdrop
Connext has partnered up with Gelato Relay to simplify token claiming across chains, eliminating the concern of gas fees. At the heart of this collaboration is Gelato's 1Balance, a unified multi-chain payments system. Using 1Balance, users can deposit USDC on the Polygon network to cover relay costs on any chain. For instance, if a user requests a relay call on Arbitrum, Gelato checks their 1Balance to ensure there's sufficient USDC to fund the transaction, then relays it on-chain.
This streamlined integration is made possible through the sponsoredCall SDK method. Utilizing a sponsor API key for authentication, the 'sponsoredCall' method guarantees secure and gasless transactions.
Here's how it works: When a user chooses their target chain for the token claim and initiates a request with Connext, the process springs into action. Instead of sending a regular on-chain transaction and paying for gas fees in native tokens, the user's request is being forwarded by Connext to Gelato Relay using the sponsoredCall method. Once received, Gelato Relay handles the on-chain execution. The gas cost for this is seamlessly managed through the 1Balance payments system. Connext funds the 1Balance, sponsoring the transaction for users and ensuring gas fees are covered across all chains. Consequently, tokens are sent directly to users' wallets, eliminating any gas fee concerns and offering a seamless and efficient experience.
Scaling Up: Gelato Relay's Enhanced Transaction Throughput
Gelato Relay has made improvements to increase its transaction throughput, catering to initiatives like Connext's airdrop. For the Connext airdrop we support up to 1,000 relay requests per minute on each chain, ensuring users can claim their NEXT tokens on their chosen chain swiftly. This enhanced capacity is especially critical during peak times, guaranteeing a smooth experience even when user demand spikes.
Connext is an open protocol that allows developers to build applications that can live on every chain and be used with every token, all at once. Since its creation in 2017, the project’s mission has been to make Web3 accessible to everyday users by abstracting away the complexity of interacting with underlying blockchains.
Gelato is web3’s decentralized backend empowering builders to create augmented smart contracts that are automated, gasless & off-chain aware on all major EVM-compatible blockchains including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, zkSync, and many more. Over 400+ web3 projects rely on Gelato for years to power the execution of millions of transactions across DeFi, NFT, and Gaming.
Gelato currently offers four services:
Web3 Functions: Connect your smart contracts to off-chain data & computation by running decentralized cloud functions.
Automate: Automate your smart contracts by executing transactions automatically in a reliable, developer-friendly & decentralized manner
Relay: Give your users access to reliable, robust, and scalable gasless transactions via a simple-to-use API
